Showers with possible isolated thunder in the afternoon. One or two waterspouts/weak tornadoes somewhere in Cascadia wouldn't shock me. Some sunshine in between storms. Showers tomorrow with rain this weekend.

Two dozen people made it out on a rainy Vancouver night to talk about open social yesterday.
We chatted about open social, this new wave of signups, infra, moderation and ofc coops. Grateful people from https://mstdn.ca, Fedecan which runs https://lemmy.ca and https://pixelfed.ca as well as people running their own servers shared how things are going.
We'll host another #YVR one soon (other places too?)
Meanwhile, comment below if you attended and want to connect here!

Rain showers all week, how beautiful. Looks like the heaviest rain will come Wednesday afternoon and then again on Sunday.

07:10 Sunday - There be snow on the ground at my house (Surrey, CN89ob, 85 m ele). I’m not sure how much, I haven’t put my contacts in yet.
I’ll be sharing other snow reports throughout the day. It’s very helpful if they include an approx time, location, and elevation.
We had an excellent view of Mount Baker at dinner last night. #Vancouver #YVR
Odd this, that our 'hood is labelled the MOST livable in all of Canada by the Globe and Mail (a national right -leaning pub)? I think someone either just really loves a good local brewski or a rapidly growing, and rather noisy community. O dear, I don't want to sound pessimistic, but it was a wee bit of a shock to learn... #NorthVancouver #YVR

READING THE VISUALS
Flow of game looks pretty even for first half the game, with Wings putting offensive pressure on late in the first period. Halfway through the second though the ice tilts in Canucks’ favour. Goals don’t always reflect this, however. A good sign for Canucks is that few goals against happen in or near their “blue paint.” This had been an issue in the past week.

New article: Alaskan low to bring stormy weather to British Columbia this weekend
- Rapidly intensifying Gulf of Alaska low
- Strong winds for the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island Saturday AM
- Isolated t-storms Saturday PM and Sunday
- Storm parade continues next week
I gotta say, this rainfall event is exceeding expectations. Far more widespread flooding than forecast, I’m nearing 140 mm of rain (South Surrey • CN89ob) when I was thinking we might be closer to 100 mm for the whole event, some spots already over 200 mm.
It’s a good thing this is happening in October and not like December when we’ll have tons of snow in the mountains. Something like that would be absolutely catastrophic.
A brief #timelapse of the #thunderstorm cell & associated shelf cloud as it rolled across #EnglishBay approaching downtown #Vancouver #BC — an unusual sight for these parts!
Just wished it wasn’t during rush hour.

A cold front moving through will bring rain which will be heavy at times. It tapers off mid-afternoon but showers remain through tomorrow. High around 16.
Rain showers linger into tomorrow with the best chance near the mountains. Rain from our next cold front begins later in the afternoon, high near 14.
Rain continues overnight and tapers off Friday morning before clearing in the afternoon.
There is a lot of moisture in B.C. today. Abbotsford airport is recording a dew point of 17C, which is in the top 1% of dew point observations for September there.
Looking at the Science Center in Vancouver #ThruTheWindow of my hotel room.
