I am not a fan of snakes but I still took several photos of this green snake as it glided smoothly across the Chobe river in Botswana! Its head is slightly lifted and eyes focused straight ahead, with ripples forming a gentle pattern behind the snake. The green water snake, Philothamnus hoplogaster, is a non-venomous, harmless snake found in Botswana and other parts of southern Africa.
