Mozilla is shutting down Pocket, its read-it-later service.
May I recommend @wallabag as an alternative? I've used it happily for years.

#deltachat Desktop can now run on #Firefox and Safari, entirely avoiding #Electron and Chromium! It's an intended side-effect of the "porting Desktop to #Tauri" effort led by @treefit which aims to provide a non-Electron packaged version of the Desktop. Here is a video and deep dive into what's working on regular browsers now, and what's missing for a full Web version: https://delta.chat/en/2025-05-22-browser-edition
This is so ridiculous, after ages of waiting #FireFox now loads pages like the UPCloud Dashboard or other stuff again, but now I can't log in. Google Chrome still works fine. The fuck did you do Mozilla?

How much clearer can it be that #DigitalSovereignty is essential?
#Microsoft blocks International Crime Court prosecutor from access to his email.
Ensure that you are in control. Use Free and #OpenSource Software (#FOSS). And be independent of #BigTech and others.
Think of #Linux, #Nextcloud, #Libreoffice, #Firefox, #Matrix and many more.
Put your trust in verifiable technique, not on juridical agreements.

Librewolf is exactly what Firefox should be.
To the point where I find in #Librewolf new features I was explicitly missing in #firefox (like clicking on the lock to enable/disable cookies for a specific website)
And, yet, it works perfectly in #debian thanks to extrepo. But, seriously, it should be considered as the default Debian browser.
Congratulations to the team!
Don’t wait on Mozilla, switch to Librewolf !
I like these new #firefox tab groups. Very useful for grouping default sets of sites you use at different times of the day.
In #firefox, open new tab, type 'translate' (without the ') into the address bar and click Return.
The top result is the #duckduckgo translate tool. (DDG is my default search).
In #firefoxdeveloperedition do the same. This time the DDG tool is the third result.
I have no idea why.
#Firefox could be doomed without #Google search deal, says executive.
This extreme dependency on Google was already a topic in the past, and I still don't get it how they could end up in such a dependency.
On the other hand, a German article mentioned that in 2023, 495 million US-Dollar out of 653 million US-Dollar in total came from Google. This means that they still have 158 million US-Dollar without Google. Quite some money compared to other Free Software initiatives and even many company backed projects.
So there should be a sane ways to move on, right? Don't do anything against the monopoly can't be the solution.

So my #LibreWolf browser just updated and now #WhatsApp web, which was working before the update says "browser not supported". 😕
Anyone know how to fix/get around/bluff my way into the WhatsApp web that WAS working a few moments ago?
Thanks!
A few of us have been tinkering with Firefox tab unloading.
Noteworthy settings:
⚙️ browser.tabs.fadeOutUnloadedTabs will fade the tabs icons
⚙️ browser.tabs.min_inactive_duration_before_unload sets the minimum time the tab will live before the unloader does it's thing. general consensus is that this is the number of milliseconds, with the default being 10 minutes (mine is much less than that now)
⚙️ browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory will account for low ram
⚙️ browser.tabs.unloadTabInContextMenu enables manual unloading of tabs via a context menu action
📄 There's a page called about:unloads with useful metrics, which references this page of information https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/browser/tabunloader/
🛠️ Pinned tabs are deprioritized in the eyes of the unloader. Which is a setting I'd like to change.
Pictures attached for reference
I wish this sort of thing was more well-known.

I see #mozilla making all these #ai related announcements and it makes me sad.
We need you focused on making #firefox the world's greatest web browser.
We need you to curb stomp #chrome and #edge and all their sleazy shenanigans1.
There are so many areas for improvement but I'm going to list a few anyway:
Better support for multiple profiles. Trying to use multiple profiles in Firefox right now is miserable #ux sadly.
WebUSB support
Fuller WebGL support
(With apologies to the folks working on those teams. I'm sure you're good people, but these products are super sleazy in the form they ship to the world)
#GoogleChrome is going to keep third-party cookies turned on by default, but it's pretty easy to turn them off (along with other ad features) by putting a "managed policies" file in the right place. Saves having to remember to do it for all users and profiles. (And there's a similar file to control the built-in ad features in #Firefox, too.)
