This is a high contrast black and white street photo of some Chinese paper lanterns rendered jet black and hanging outside an old colonial building in Singapore. On the left and right of the lanterns are two hanging lines of small cylindrical tubes. The left lanterns consist of a larger cylindrical with a slightly smaller one beneath it. In the centre are three spherical paper lanterns the largest one on the top with each one below being slightly smaller, each lantern having a floral design painted on the surface. On the right are two large spherical lanterns the upper one being the larger. Above all of these is a floral decoration. Behind is the white facade of a historic colonial building with some of the windows and shutters in view.

This is a black and white street photo looking upwards at a statue of three people in landscape format. To the left of centre is large statue of a Chinese man surrounded by two shorter statues. The three statues are bold, angular and in a Sino-Soviet style. The larger man in the centre has his arm outstretched and raised slightly as if showing the direction. He is wearing a belted greatcoat, a ushanka with the sides pulled down over the ears and a flowing cape. Under his right arm he has a large book, perhaps the not so little 'Little Red Book'. On the right side is another Chinese man, again with the depicted in the same angular style. On the left side a young Chinese woman, this time with a more rounded face: with a large steel rod over her left shoulder and a length of coiled rope over the right shoulder. These three revolutionaries serve as an example, inspiration and stand guard outside the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall sometimes known as the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong in Tiananmen Square, Beijing (2012)

This is a low contrast black and white street photo of a People's Republic of China Army soldier on ceremonial guard duty standing to attention in front of a giant portrait of Mao Zedong. In the centre of the photo is the young soldier dressed smartly in a dark uniform, wearing a cap and white gloves. He is standing to attention in a small glass booth a little over a metre high with a hinged glass door left open to the left, I imagine this is to give some comfort in the bitter winter and scorching summer. Surrounding the soldier and booth are four silver posts supporting a short length of light chain that surrounds the booth. Behind and blurred out of focus is a wide street with one car on the right side. Beyond that is the dark wall of a building with a crowd of people beside it. Above is the giant portrait of Mao Zedong, the founder of the People's Republic of China.

This is a colour street photo, without people, of an elevated dystopian cityscape scene in landscape format. In the lower left corner is a rusting overhead street sign with two Chinese characters in fading red paint against a white background. Running across the frame are numerous cables supporting the overhead cables for the street's trams. Stretching from the right margin and converging towards the centre is the drab front of a low-rise, about ten floors, mixed use building. The facade is a light salmon colour and is adorned with multiple external air conditioning units, colourful drying laundry and the occasional open window. Further down the street is a further similar building, taller but with a neater facade, painted white with horizontal purple stripes indicating each floor. At the end of our street is a cream coloured apartment block, its upper floors out of view and again with a tidier exterior, just the occasional visible exterior a/c unit.

This is a colour street photo of a courtyard area in an artistic community in Beijing. Above and to the right of centre is a large contemporary stature of a Chinese warrior poised to strike with his sword held behind his head with his arms arched. In front of the warrior is a young smiling Chinese man holding his camera and reviewing the images he has taken on the screen on the back of the camera - It looks as if the warrior is about to chops of the photographer's head off. Also in this scene are numerous statures of wolf sized mythical animals as well as a few more people, well dressed against the bitter cold Beijing winter.

This is a black and white wildlife photo with a cityscape background in landscape format. Slightly to the left of centre is a large bird of prey, possibly a Buzzard. The bird is banking steeply to the right so that the upper parts and tail are in view. The wings and tail are outspread and the head is looking ahead. Most of the bird is dark grey with very small light grey patches though the rear and wing tip feathers are all dark grey.
