Originally from New Brunswick, I've lived in many places across Canada including Vancouver, Winnipeg, and now, Ottawa.
For decades, I've been passionate about #community building both online and offline. My volunteer past includes coordinating safety initiatives, lobbying for recreational facilities, and advocating for greenspace. I've done a lot but I really don't like bragging. I value experience over fame.
I work in emergency services but I also run a web services business, a venture fueled by my love for the Internet and seeing how people use the #web
Offline, I enjoy #biking #hiking exploring #art and #volunteering I'm grateful for the available green spaces in Ottawa and Gatineau, and that I live near a river. ❤️

Over the years I've switched from maps.me to mapy.cz and finally to #OSM because mapy.cz introduced high subscription fees imho
OSMAnd~ app requires several minutes to get familiar with but it's much more powerful and customisable than anything else I've seen so far. It's perfect for #hiking. Can't wait to try it with #mountain #bike.
Ideally install OSMAnd~ through #fdroid to avoid all subscriptions/non-free add-ons.
Hopefully ditching #GoogleMaps soon!

Today’s #cycle ride was what I would classify as a true #winter ride. The temperature is just a couple of degrees above freezing. It is actually #snowing but it is not settling, the ground being just wet. I was in two minds whether to go but it was OK as long as I moderated my speed as grip could otherwise be a problem. Usually, it takes me a km or two to warm up but today, my extremities were getting numb quite early on but I decided not to abort my journey.

It has been stormy in many parts of the country but here, we’ve got off relatively lightly, although there was much rain over the weekend. On my regular route, there’s a section along the #ExeterFloodReliefChannel and today it was in full use. As far as anecdotal evidence for #ClimateChange is concerned, at a local level at least, a quarter of the century ago, the channel was always dry – you could walk across it.

If you don’t like the weather here (it’s not Southern California, it’s California’s Central Coast), it’ll change. Photos show changing weather on the Big Sur coast Sunday, December 29. Rain, fog, then sunshine broke through. We shot these at 2:23 pm, 4:40 pm, 5:05 pm.
