I do see Parker Molloy's point and I think it's a very good one. I'm still not inclined to give people like Ryleigh Cooper a pass for believing what any informed person has to have known was arrant nonsense coming out of a serial liar's mouth: that he'd bring prices down the first day he was in office; that there'd be free IVF programs; that he had nothing to do with Project 2025.

The refusal of far too many Americans to inform ourselves — to think, to read widely, to take advantage of the good resources online and not the piffle offered by TikTok videos — can't be entirely laid at the feet of the corporate media who are owned and managed by Republican-loving rich men.
77 million of us had every reason to know better when we pulled that Trump lever in 2024, as did 90 million of us who sat it out.

@wdlindsy It's not even that. Every single person who voted for Trump in 2024, and every eligible voter who sat the election out, lived through his first term.
This is something more than misinformation and people not informing themselves. It's people willfully forgetting what 2020 was like.
I understand fighting fascism and misinformation. I don't understand how to fight that kind of willful memory erasure.
Certainly understand blaming these low information voters for not being able to see through the disinformation, but we need to realize that they are targeted victims of sophisticated and tested psy-ops campaigns.
Another good example is the Biden Gaza campaign targeting well intentioned young people. Rather than simply paint them as naive, as tempting as it may be to do so, it is important to understand they were targets of multifacited psy-ops warfare tactics.
Going forward we need to be smarter about psycological warfare. We need to identify specific psy-ops narratives early, expose them and attack them aggressively.
Right now, if you look at the cesspool of YouTube comments (not recommended!) there's a very specific narrative the Zelensky meeting was going well until Zelenski out of the blue was rude. This is being repeated ad nauseum, and as false as we know this to be, it is the disinformation a low information person is receiving.
I was just think8ng this morning of the need for a "citizens army" to combat disinformation on-line right now. Say, young people with knowledge of TikTok monitoring that platform, millennials watching threads, boomers watching Facebook, etc. If there was some group that coukd organ8ze it like @indivisibleteam or @LincolnProject or @dnc.... of course only Indivisible is on Mastodon....
