#Larch fence slats handsplitted. I love splitting #wood by hand and working out the shapes and branches. With the right technique and some suitable splitting wedges, it's not so strenuous.
Sawn wood is forced into a shape and the naturally grown wood fibers are destroyed. If it is not necessary, e.g. for a fence, then I prefer splitting.
Generally speaking splitted wood is more solid and last longer compared to wood cut with a saw, because water can drain off better and therefore does not get soaked into the wood as much.
