One of the things they do, I am told by a series of nice videos I watched last night instead of sleeping, is that they'll release a "limited edition" classy collection, implying that there's only these 25 well thought out and nice clothes that you pay a bit more for, and thus you will get something that lasts you a long while. While also adding some thousands of other new styles in their hoard of trash at the same time.
Isn't that great! Just fantastic! 🙃
Anyway. It would be quite nice if they did in fact make that limited edition collection of 25 better quality and slightly more expensive clothes... But sadly that's not the case, it's just advertising. Customers have figured out that the system is terrible, so it's easy enough to offer them the same old thing with a new coat of paint, make them feel better about it while changing nothing at all.
"But what do I buy then, Sini? Everything's a sham!"
Buy nothing, if you can help it. And if you can't, attempt buying second hand.
Oh. Further accursed knowledge: Fast fashion companies have also discovered that people love shopping second hand. So they're offloading pretty much brand new stock onto second hand markets, sometimes with even a mark-up of their original asking price.
Cursed! Ah, I hate capitalism. Especially when it preys on what people feel is fair, and are trying to do better.
