I pay for the Pro version of @nextdns, which is a crucial service in my #infosec toolkit.
However, from time-to-time, I run into a website that has so many things blocked, it just will not work correctly. Typically, it is a shopping website that someone in my family wants to use.
What's really annoying is, the website's functionality is broken because I'm using DNS to block stuff that isn't coming from the main domain.
Does anyone know how to actually fix such a problem?
@scottwilson I use #nextdns and if ifs breaking a website, I typically can figure out what is breaking it from the logs. Once I figure out what is being blocked, I put in an exception for it in the allowed list.
@bielsubob Yep, that makes sense. Sometimes it’s is very difficult to figure out what is the key thing to place on the Allow List. 😔
@scottwilson Yup, sometimes it can be a bit of trial and error.
@bielsubob @scottwilson if a website has so many trackers that are blocked that it no longer functions, you're usually the product. I normally try to find an alternative, before giving such a site the smug satisfaction of unblocking their spyware. Same goes for those who block Tor IP's by default with Cloudflare - I normally just show them the middle finger and buy from their competitor. You could also consider using TOR Browser, for those sites instead.
