you can "pair up" a #writefreely blog entry with a #mastodon (or similar) post, and accept comments on the post; but anyone reading the blog has to follow a link to see the comments and might need a mastodon account. So: cumbersome.
I've been offering this for ages and had exactly 0 comments.
@w0dz @taco When I post on my #writefreely, I sub to it with this masto account and boost it. Then I'll make a separate post linking to my WF post - *that* tends to get the engagement.
But.. No comments directly.
Having said that, the dev. of Write.As (paid - writefreely flagship instance), @matt has an add-on called Remark.As which, for is exactly what we're talking about - commenting plugin.
Hopefully some feature push back to WF is coming

@tezoatlipoca @w0dz @taco @matt the #fediverse Integration of #writefreely is quite poor ;( - hope it evolves ... because I like the general approach a lot.
@ring2 @w0dz @taco @matt Yeah. right now its literally imited to being able to follow and boost WF posts. If you really want the interaction #Plume accounts and their posts can be interacted with just like any other AP post. However, while I see checkins going on in their github the last "release" was over a year ago, so I wouldn't consider it as "actively" maintained.
@tezoatlipoca @ring2 @w0dz @taco One workaround for now is to mention your Mastodon account in your #WriteFreely posts. Then any fediverse replies will also mention your Masto account, and you can always carry on the conversation from there.
