Within the next 15 days, they are legally required to vote on a resolution that would reduce Trump's destruction.
To avoid going on record for this vote and facing Trump's/Musk's ire, Republicans added a sentence to the continuing resolution to count the rest of the year as one single day.
Thereby never facing the legal deadline of having to vote within 15 days.
