@mlanger @tc_morekindness I’m fairly sure that my daughter’s learning disorder was undiagnosed for so long because she is a voracious reader, and diagnostics are not designed for kids who read at 10 grade levels above their assigned level.
And the tests, all of which is because Pearson bribed Bush, has been a thing I’ve failed against since it started. The Iowa assessment, used since the 60s, and administered at like 1st, 5th and 11h grade were great national metrics for how everyone was doing. But was it making money for anyone? It was not. Current testing regime is obscene.

@mlanger @tc_morekindness This came across my feed this morning. I was sharing it to my next door neighbor, who is a teacher, and I thought it fit here too.

@MissConstrue @tc_morekindness It’s absolutely HORRIBLE what they expect from people who just want to TEACH our kids. I still can’t believe that classes do fund drives to buy basics like markers and paper.
A friend of mine taught in an AZ school with classroom dictionaries so old the word “Internet” did not appear. I did a Go Fund Me for the class to buy them 25 new dictionaries. That should NOT be necessary.
