Hi #mastoadmin friends and those watching the #relay we've been hosting for years. We've now been down for about four days and still can't get the damn thing back up. Not sure how to fix. We'll cancel all recurring subscription donations and invite everyone back as soon as we can find a solution. Apologies for the downtime.
@me do you have a matrix server where you’re discussing the issues?
@me Are you running it directly, non dockerized? I need to upgrade my server too and now I'm a bit nervous lol
@troy Yes, directly - was trying to eeek out every morsal of performance since it was such a big relay (almost 400 servers). Really bummed :(
@jsonarray I don't - posted the error here: https://git.asonix.dog/asonix/relay/issues/6 started after upgrade of Ubuntu LTS. Looks like recent module updates in Rust (reqwest) had breaking changes to the author's code.
@jsonarray assuming it's fixable, yeah, it looks like upstream dependency issue. should have left well enough alone, but given the popularity of the relay, I was biasing towards "always stay patched"
