@Januschka Musk won’t run for office he will just bankroll another party splitting the MAGAs. It will help weaken Trump if he does. Polls show a majority of Americans are not happy with the cruelty even those who are fine with deportation, their neighbors, friends and favorite businesses are being hit. All it would take is legislation but big agricultural has stymied that for years. It is a mess after 250 years there are many cracks and holes
Musk will finance a party, set guidelines and look for people to do the work. That's pest eller cholera for voters.
I understand that Democrats have trouble finding a leading figure, perhaps Newsom will take that role in the end, but can he unite the country?
Greens and Independents won't play a role in what is to come, alas.
@Januschka I agree. Newsom, Walz, Buttigieg are all possibilities for dem…all white males and very sad statement about the bigotry against POC and women in this country. Personally I am thinking a multi party system would be healthier as well as ranking in elections we are diverse nation and multiple parties force compromise, which what democracy is all about. You might know better in Europe whether multi parties are too much trouble. We need big money out absolutely
@Januschka elections in the u.s. historically have been fair but the Republican Supreme Court decided corporations are people elections became up for sale. It needs to go if we survive. Tax money & prime time air time committed for all candidates might help but now the absolute voter suppression in red states is awful. No voting polls on Reservations, no mail in ballots, too few polls not open long enough in some red states it is illegal to offer water if it is hot while in line
Super PACs are one thing.
But having groups of presidential electors in combination with 'the winner takes it all' and not a representative distribution of mandates.... that's not a fair democracy.
@Januschka the Electoral College needs to go
I agree but I haven't read about a movement to get that done. Is someone working on that?
@Januschka there are millions who want it gone. The presidential election should be majority rule. But that does give power to the liberal cities. The delegates are chooses by the parties which is a major problem…not the people. Republicans haven’t been the majority in 40 years really. That is why they cheat. Definitely stole the election 2003 and 2016. One by a republican SCOTUS 2016 the college and voter suppression. don’t know of a specific movement
to want something to happen and to do something for it are different pairs of shoes.
As long as the people tolerate this anachronistic system there will be no real president of the People.
@Januschka we are. Read Heather Cox Richardson Republicans in the House are in chaos. They know their constituents are extremely unhappy. “Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), hundreds of his constituents held a die-in to demonstrate how cuts to healthcare in the bill would affect them.”. He voted No and fled…can’t be found.
This bill could kill the republican party
