@khalidabuhakmeh I think that's kinda the point 😜
@scottgal Haha… yeah I can see that… but the Azure bill folks are going to get the day after is going to be shocking to business stakeholders.
@khalidabuhakmeh It's another trap for young developers; not understanding the impact of 'the easy to use Aspire' on real hosting costs. In reality most smaller companies services can easily be hosted on a $50/month ubuntu instance but they won't invest in the devops skills to do that so spend $5k/month on Azure dross.
@khalidabuhakmeh @scottgal repeat theme with my clients:
1. No expense spared, use anything just be productive devs!!! 💸
[...several months later...]
2. Please can we work on bringing our #Azure bill down, k thx 🩹
@tim_abell @khalidabuhakmeh It's INSANELY hard to do that too; expecially now with Aspire, unwinding an architecture with a tight dependency on Aure services (or AWS) is PAINFUL.
@scottgal @tim_abell I think the big issue with Azure and this approach is the glue that ties this all together is sold “piecemeal”. So while you have a logical solution, the components are all priced separately and differently, which is confusing.
It’s like instead of getting a monthly bill for a car, you get an engine bill, a tire bill, a steering wheel bill, and a brakes bill.
@scottgal @khalidabuhakmeh yeah. Just give me another year or three to morph it back into a monolith and delete all the telemetry we didn't actually need 🛑♻️
@tim_abell @scottgal I like the telemetry. We can keep that.
@khalidabuhakmeh @tim_abell Well that'll cost you $5k/month for ingest and storage costs (increasing every month forever) 🌞
