@jerry Town I used to live had a rather infamous school with a "slow children at play" sign everyone joked was very apt given the school

@jjesse @jerry Growing up, I always wondered about the neighborhoods that had signs informing us of their SLOW CHILDREN. Here’s an idea: since the US Adult Literacy level is so low, maybe we should adopt international signage without all those words on it.

@bhawthorne @jerry Should I slow down due to children? (Speed limit is 25 mph in neighborhoods in MI) or are the children "slow" and I should watch out for them.

@jjesse @bhawthorne 🤔 I’ve long wondered why, if we need to slow down below the 25mph speed limit for kids, they don’t lower the speed limit.

@jerry @jjesse They are starting to do just that in some cities Europe. We need to return to building transit infrastructure for people instead of for auto manufacturers.

@cR0w that one has always bothered me. I thought parents were supposed to be cheerleaders for their kids

@jerry Years ago, we had a neighbor that went through probably half a dozen of those signs because no matter how the sign was written, it sounded like the same thing and they didn't like that they thought we were making fun of their kids. We were just making fun of the signs, but we soon learned why their kids were so slow.
