No far, no federalized National Guard presence, but overwhelming #DHS & #ICE, fully masked, in military-style camo fatigues, armed but so far use only nonlethal weapons.
Jim Sciutti now says some National Guard is indeed present in dntn LA. Contradicts most recent reports from the field to him. Not sure if he misspoke or if something has just changed.

yeah. Sthing changed. CNN live vid in dntn #LA now shows ½ dozen or so front & center prominently displaying "California National Guard" on their shields.

Except, now the California National Guard's been federalized, they're part of the Army & can't be used for law enforcement.

For sure, endless hypocrisy & lies as they condemn protesters as "horrible people" while violent #Jan6 insurrectionists are" heros" Trump pardoned & now proposes compensation for.
We are in the thick of a constitutional crisis, no mistake.

MSNBC reporter David Noriega in LA reports Maxine Waters & 1 other mbr of Congress (Judy Chu) denied entry & the ability to exercise oversight at LA #DHS detention facility, supposedly b/c DHS can't ensure their safety b/c "unrest" OUTSIDE.
Ie, DHS is 💯% incompetent, can't do their most essential, core job of protection.

Notable that, unlike shady, gutless #DHS & #ICE, the CHP (California Highway Patrol) are not only NOT wearing masks to hide their faces, they have name tags & wear non- militarized uniforms.
#CHP is #California's State Police & not pretending to be anything else.

reporting from LA, says the police have begun pushing protesters back across the street they've been on, accompanied by several loud bangs (flash bangs?).
What he seems to be describing is the "kettling" others w/LE background have described as a control tactic of pushing people back against bldgs & into smaller, tighter groupings, which often aggravates the situation & endangers protesters.

Juliette Kayyem on CNN interpreting what, now that it's dark in LA, the live video of a couple of cars driving extremely fast on some main road in LA where protests have been indicates - possibly anti-protesters trying to harm protesters and another reason it's important to de-escalate.
I dunno - gotta ask yourself who'd want to set Waymos on fire? Outside agitators? MAGA saboteurs? Tesla/DOGE irregulars?
Hardly seems like something serving the agenda of the anti-#ICE anti-#Deportations crowd protesting criminality, militarization & violence of #TrumpDeportations.
