#deltachat Desktop can now run on #Firefox and Safari, entirely avoiding #Electron and Chromium! It's an intended side-effect of the "porting Desktop to #Tauri" effort led by @treefit which aims to provide a non-Electron packaged version of the Desktop. Here is a video and deep dive into what's working on regular browsers now, and what's missing for a full Web version: https://delta.chat/en/2025-05-22-browser-edition
@delta @treefit Can't wait for a standalone web version (not running off of a mobile device). It would make Delta Chat available on any (even future) platform as well as e.g. Chromebooks, which are used by many of my important contacts. (And running an Android or Linux version is not an option or not a good option for them.)
@delta @treefit I want to move away from simplex because its owned by fascists, but afaik its the only decentralised messenger to use post quantum encryption, if you can add that and the extreme anonymity simplex affords with unique ids/addresses for every group and dm u join then you will be a serious contender for the most private and anonymous and robust messenger, with the added benefit of not being owned by fascists like simplex (I would hope at least)
@delta @treefit Would adding https://jmap.io/ support to the relays solve the TCP connections issue?
