@benroyce @SherBeareth China may be no easier to get rid of than the USA. The last thing the Panamanians likely want is for the canal to become an occupation zone at all as their sovereignty over it is based on treaty, not on their ability to defend it. Chances are they will play the major powers against each other to deter any one party from unilaterally acting.
