On this day, September 30th Canadians are faced with the uncomfortable truth that while our government has said all the right things and every MP is wearing their orange shirt and makes their obligatory post that it simultaneously is facilitating another genocide in #Gaza and #Lebanon. The lessons learned from our own colonial genocide have not been applied. When we say “every child matters” we mean every child. We mean that colonialism is evil.

Today I remember the lives of the #Indigenous families and children lost because of Canadian colonialism from Turtle Island to #Gaza, who never came home because we, as white people, perpetuate great harm in the name of land theft. Today I call on my fellow Canadians to recommit to practicing decolonization, to join the #LandBack movement. To return what was never ours to take. To repair the harm, to reconcile, to move on in peace and common purpose.
