The other day I was looking for river otter and mink on the coast and I was delighted to see a black-tailed deer instead. It was munching on leaves, making its way along the edge of the forest.
That's one way to track deer: look at tree branches to see if the leaves and buds have been eaten. Look for tracks in the sand and dropping.
This was a lovely and peaceful day.
