Upcoming jobs before spring are to clear the overgrown front half plot and tidy up and re-lay a hedge along the boundary to the nature reserve. #GrowYourOwn #HomeGrown #NoDig #Gardening #Allotment

Some hedge clearing with piles of brambles and woody brash material that have been cleared out from the existing hedge. Three water butts are now visible. Two are metal and one is black plastic. The hedge was completely covering the back two butts. The front water butt is connected to the tapped water supply for the site. A hedge with top bindings forms the barrier between the nature reserve and the allotment site. The hedge was laid a few years ago. There is a lot of new growth that can be used to bulk up the hedge and promote new growth.

The front half of an overgrown allotment plot. My shed is in the distance. The plot has lots of grass and brambles. Also hidden in there are some raspberries, other thornless soft fruit currently, pun intended, unknown maybe loganberries or tayberries, rosemary, rhubarb and red currants and now some recently added piles of woody material from the initial clearing of the hedge.
