@GottaLaff Jess Piper from rural Missouri, who tried running for Congress on the Dem ticket, has been saying for years that the school voucher system is a scam.
She said, tax payers are essentially helping to defund public schools while helping funding affluent/wealthy families education.
She also warned that as soon as the school voucher system is in place, the schools will raise their rates so regular people can’t afford it, even with vouchers.

I read Jess Piper’s essays regularly and I am in total agreement with her on this issue. I have always felt it is my duty as a property owning taxpayer to support PUBLIC education. I do not feel like it is my responsibility to support religious schools. Parents have ALWAYS had the CHOICE to send their kids where they want. What they don’t have is the right to do is cripple public education by siphoning off $$ to do so.
@PandaChronicle Honestly, there shouldn’t be religious schools or wealthy schools. I can see specialty schools for occupational training, etc. All American children should get the best education, regardless of religious beliefs, income level, or zip code. If parents want religious training, then there is always Saturday/Sunday school.
